As I said on the "Home" page we are new to this.....I am hoping I don't have one of those "looking back it seemed like a good idea at the time" moments! Just kidding....
I am starting this Family Website and Blog as a way of sharing all that is happening in our lives with all of you who care enough to read it....God love ya!
What you'll find here is what we're up to, what we're thinking about, typical stuff with any blog I guess. I just think there are a lot of y'all that I don't get to talk to all that often who I would love to be able to share all the little things (big blessings) in our life with. Also, some of you who do have to talk to me all the time, may still want to see the photos, try the recipes, who knows....
This being our first blog and right here at the holidays, I thought I'd give you a quick glimpse in the 2010 rear view mirror:
January: We had a great time celebrating Alabama's National Championship victory! Roll Tide!! Kernon started attending Covenant Classical School where he is now enrolled in their Pre-K 2 class. We also celebrated Gigi's birthday!
February: Kernon turned 4 and we had a great time celebrating at the Birmingham ZOO! Some onlookers probably thought we were exactly where we belonged, but hey, if you can't have a good time why bother, right?? March: Of course we always look forward to St. Patrick's Day! Kernon had a great time celebrating at school (see photo with his friend Kennady below). We also had a great time at the St. Patrick's Day parade in Birmingham!
April: With April comes Easter!! Fun egg hunt at school and then a wonderful Easter Day celebration with Family at home! Also Doug started his new (and much loved!) job at Copart, Inc.!
May: We had a wonderful time on Mother's Day taking a trip to the Montgomery Zoo! We also enjoyed Kernon's first School program and the SEC Baseball Tournament! Doug and I also enjoyed the NHRA Drag Races in Atlanta (compliments of Copart!) and fun concerts by Zac Brown Band and Tim McGraw!
June: The fun of summer in full swing! Lots of fun hanging out with friends and enjoying the pool on Herringdon Hill!
July: Doug and I took a quick trip to Florida to enjoy the Daytona 400! We took in the Fan Zone and enjoyed Darius Rucker's pre race concert! The weather was perfect and we had a great trip! We got home just in time to celebrate the 4th of July with family and friends. Then it was off to Washington DC or me! Time for Continental Congress (DAR's annual convention). I had the pleasure of service as a personal page to the President General & the great honor of meeting General John Allen (commander of CENTCOMM).
August: We enjoyed a long weekend at the beach (Gulf Shores, AL) which was part birthday celebration and part family get-away! We had perfect weather and a great time!
In September we made our first foray into organized sports! Soccer. Although we got off to a slow start
Kernon ended up LOVING soccer. He learned a lot about playing on a team and got over his "stage fright" pretty quickly! So very proud of him and all his teammates! Only his Mom would tell you he was one of the leading scorers on his team!
October: The beauty of Fall appears in all the trees and every kid looks forward to Halloween! Gigi and I joined Kernon on his school trip to the Pumpkin Patch. We had a great time and the kids enjoyed every minute of it! Kernon (who doesn't usually "dress up" for Halloween) decided he would be a race car driver this year!
November: We had SO MUCH fun participating in the Veteran's Day Parade! I got to ride in the parade this year as Alabama Society DAR's Outstanding Junior Member and Kernon & Dad drove several DAR and SAR members who were dressed in Colonial Costume. We also had Uncle Bill (he's a young 91!) ride in a convertible in our group as a WWII veteran himself and in honor of our other family members who were WWII vets. It was an awesome day! December: This month Kernon started playing basketball. Go Bulls! We all very much enjoyed his Christmas program at school. AND NOW.... we are just waiting on Santa!
